Minot North High School Calculator Lease Program

The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has partnered with Minot Public School Foundation (MPSF) to grant $5,000 to the Minot North High School (MNHS) Mathematics Department. MACF Funding was made possible through the Mike & Dorothy Dolan Fund. Funds from both organizations will be used to support the creation of a calculator lease program when Minot North High School opens this fall.

“Supporting our students and classrooms is vital to our community. We are pleased to announce that the Minot Public School Foundation has accepted our challenge to match these funds” states Jason Zimmerman, MACF President. “This collaboration has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities. We hope this joint effort will inspire further support and investment in our schools.”

Teachers from the MNHS Mathematics Department came to the organizations with the goal of providing students with the best possible resources to enhance their educational experience and foster academic excellence. The use of graphing calculators is a requirement for upper-level math classes, but the cost can be a barrier for students to have the proper tools to succeed. “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous grant awarded to us for graphing calculators,” states Julie Mosser, MNHS Mathematics Teacher. “The support will significantly enhance our students’ learning experience in mathematics and science.” With seed funding from both organizations, the MNHS Mathematics Department is poised to launch a graphing calculator lease program for the upcoming school year, ensuring every student has an equal chance to excel academically.

“The Minot Public School Foundation is proud to partner with the Minot Area Community Foundation by supporting students and teachers with funding for new calculators for the upcoming school year,” says MPSF Board President, Ben Berg. “This coming school year brings lots of excitement to our community as Minot North opens to students and staff for the first time! MPSF strives to support the education of students across our district.”
